Platforms Africa, which reports this, quoted impeccable sources who, pending an official statement from the family, confirmed news of the passing on of Engr. Joe Makoju, who also doubled as the former top executive at Portland Cement Plc.

“We mourn the passing on of a patriot, a man described as a walking encyclopedia of the NESI,’ one of the sources said.
“He was the MD/CEO of PHCN at a very crucial & critical time in the life of the sector. He worked tirelessly with men of candour and zeal such as Senator Liyel Imoke who later went on to become the Governor of Cross River State.
“Engr. Makoju was also the VP of Dangote Group & was also at Portland Cement or so.
“May His rest in perfect peace and may the good Lord keep his estate,” he concluded.
